Upper Garda Region

The numerous features of this enchanting landscape are influenced by the ever-changing reflections of the Lake Garda waters and the fascinating itineraries that surround it.

The lunar landscape of "Le Marocche" which is an impressive landslide dating back to the Ice Age, characterizes the Cavedine Valley. Mt. Brione rises up in the centre of the Sarca Valley and is reflected in the Lake waters. It represents an important part of the "Peace Path" from the 1st World War, because of its Austro-Hungarian strongholds. The waterfall in Varone that inspired Thomas Mann in his "Enchanted Mountain", can be admired everyday in summer and during the winter holidays. The famous "Marmitte dei Giganti" lie along the provincial road that links Nago to Torbole and are outstanding for the deep circular hollows in the mountains that date back to the Ice Age. The Arboreto in Arco is a strip of the ancient park that was created by Alberto the Archduke of Habsburg in the late 1800s.
